Our eyes are oftentimes compared to our muscles and glasses are oftentimes compared to “crutches”. A few {}vision~eyesighteyesight “gurus” believe that by putting on spectacles, you alter your eye muscles and degenerate your eyesightvision~eyesight{}. Hence, they concluded, you need to do eye exercises to “strengthen” them.
However is that for real?
Think about it. What’re the awful eyesight habits that cause your eyesight to deteriorate from the beginning? Staring and squinting in the dark causes your eye muscles to strain and tighten… if anything causes eyesight degenerate, it’s not “wasted eye muscles”, it is strain!
The phrase “eye exercises” are highly deceiving. They are in fact, more like “breathing exercises”. Eye exercises relaxes your eye muscles, not enhance them! They achieve this by simulating proper vision habits and when you perform them habitually, you’ll subconsciously pick up the concepts behind them.
When you once again grasped proper vision habits, your eyes will by nature see sharply again. Spectacles are bad not because it “cripple” your eye muscles… they’re poor because they didn’t allow your eye muscles to unwind!
Similar to your other senses, vision is suppose to be effortless. You don’t find yourself “trying” to listen, touch, smell or taste. Even providing that you plan to do so, you can’t. That is the phase you are aiming for: effortless sight! And it can only be obatined assuming that you discard your glasses and do vision therapy. Needless to say, constantly make sure you wear your glasses whenever you engage in hazardous activities like driving or crossing the road!
Having said that, you should also think about how not wearing glasses will affect your vision habit. Will it make you squint even more? If this is the case, you should consider purchasing spectacles with 2 to 3 degrees lower than your prescription for vision therapy. This will enable you to see effectively clear but at the same time leaves room for improvement.
